THE CHARITIES OF THOMAS BATES
Thomas Bates (1844-1903) was born and educated in Little Eaton and is buried in the Churchyard. He bequeathed various monies to the village to be used for specific purposes and administered by a Trust of seven people.

The present Trustees are liasing with the Charity Commissioners to modernise the Trust whilst retaining the original wishes of Thomas Bates. The objectives of the Trust are:

(ii) The relief of persons who are in need,or hardship and resident in Little Eaton.
(iii) To promote the education of persons under the age of 25 who are in need and resident in Little Eaton.
(iv) To further religious and other charitable work in Little Eaton.
