30th March 2009 heralded the final step in a long march to secure funding for Little Eaton’s much needed new village hall. The Big Lottery Fund, Community Buildings Programme announced that we have been successful with our stage two application and have been awarded a grant of £406,608 towards the new building. This augments the £250,000 we were awarded in November 2007, from the WRG (WREN) Communities Challenge Award, and also the £60,035 that we obtained from Erewash Borough Council, Parish Councils Finance Initiative, which we have put towards the total budget of £74,000.00 already spent on providing a new car park.

The quest for a new Village Hall to replace our lost and outdated community facilities began back in the 70s, when it was proposed to utilise the village school building, which was ear-marked for being replaced with a brand new complex on land off Barley Close. This came to nothing when the land was sold for housing.
